Celebrate the spooky season with M.A.T.H. Mummy Mayhem at ROM! Created by the Minecraft Education team in partnership with Cambridge Mathematics, this gripping adventure takes us to the pyramids of Egypt, where ancient secrets have been lying in wait for the right adventurer to reveal them. Each puzzle you solve will bring you closer to the hidden truth, advancing your knowledge of mathematics and the pyramid’s story. But watch your back as you explore, because rumors say that the last adventurer who ventured into this enigmatic pyramid never returned. Could it be the doing of the fabled mathematical mummy? 

Join ROM Educators Sarah and Alexis, who will guide your students through this giant geometrical world, using virtual galleries and real objects from the Egyptian collections housed at ROM to help navigate through these magical mathematical puzzles. 
 These lessons are sequential and must be completed in order. If you want to experience the whole journey, submit a booking for each of these dates. 

  • Part 1: October 28, 2024: This lesson will cover the beginning of the world through to the Perilous Parkour Room of Doom. 

  • Part 2: October 31, 2024: This lesson will pick up right at the end of the Perilous Parkour and guide students through as much of the rest of the pyramid as we can before time runs out. 

Can’t attend live? No problem! In this special YouTube Live Format, you’ll be able to pause and play the lesson to go at the pace that’s right for your students. If you can’t attend live, you can still follow along with the recording through the links you’ll receive when you book. 

Requirements: 

  • Class set of devices with Minecraft Education 

  • Familiarity with basic Minecraft controls (movement, placing blocks, etc.)
