The ways we live our lives today provide not only a glimpse into our future but are a reflection of various human activity in the past. With such a wonderful diversity of peoples and cultures on Earth, we come together to understand that not everyone thinks, creates, moves, or lives in the same way. How have these interactions affected our lives, the environment and everything around us today?  Join ROM Educators for a lesson where students will explore three cultures through the lens of one of the many possible themes.  Let's explore what it means to be human!

Note to Teachers: During the hands-on labs, students have the opportunity to interact with many objects, some of which are heavy. Serious personal injury may result to themselves or to others if a student lifts and subsequently drops an object.

Learning goals:

  • By studying the past, we can better understand the present.
  • Social and environmental challenges were a major part of life in all communities.
  • Human activity and the environment affect each other, now and in the past.
  • Where do we get our information about the past and how do we evaluate our sources?
